Spanish newspaper AS have a rather interesting claim in their Sunday edition regarding Manchester City and Monchi.
Monchi is Sevilla’s sport director, having returned to the club following a difficult spell at AS Roma. Having built a very strong reputation in Spain, and being linked to the biggest clubs in the world, Monchi eventually ended up leaving the country and going for an Italian adventure.
It didn’t work out, with there being something of a power struggle at the Serie A side. There were also difficulties with some of Monchi’s signings and he didn’t have anything like the impact which was expected when he arrived.
AS report he’s returned to carrying out his ‘splendid work’ at Sevilla and that’s once again catching attention from other clubs. Barcelona are linked, as they have been for the best part of a decade, and it’s stated Manchester City ‘would be delighted’ if they could recruit Monchi themselves.
Both are set to be disappointed, with Monchi fully committed to his work at Sevilla and convinced that good times are on the way.
