Ever since Ruhr Nachrichten reported last Wednesday that Erling Braut Haaland and his advisor Mino Raiola travelled to Germany to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund, there have been various claims about the Red Bull Salzburg star’s next destination.
VG then reported Ole Gunnar Solskjaer travelled to Salzburg on Friday to hold talks with the striker and his family and he didn’t deny making this trip in his post-match press conference after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday.
On December 16th, Salzburger Nachrichten explained the trip to Austria was ‘probably unsuccessful’ for the Red Devils.
However, for them to secure Haaland’s services, United must convince him that Solskjaer ‘and his project’ are long-term. It’s stated the manager has been under ‘severe pressure’ (in the media and from some fans at least) and the message is there’s little point in Haaland reuniting with his old mentor if Solskjaer then leaves the club.
Sources have told TV2 that Salzburg’s idea is to keep him until end of this season, but if Haaland wants a transfer in January they will not stand in his way.
There have been claims in Italy about Raiola pushing Haaland towards Juventus, but TV2 states the teenager is sceptical about making a switch to Serie A. He is of the belief the culture and surroundings in Germany and England would suit him well.
