Manchester United are one of seven clubs to have negotiated with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, according to SportBild.
The 20-year-old midfielder has emerged as one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe and subsequently has all the elite clubs chasing him.
SportBild say that Manchester United are one of the interested parties and the player’s advisors have already held talks ‘intensively’.
The newspaper says it is ‘clear’ the interested parties can match Leverkusen’s asking price of €130m, with sporting director Rudi Völler open to ‘creative models’ to reach that price.
The midfielder knows a move to the ‘fallen giant’ would be a ‘project’ but is ‘excited’ by the club nonetheless.
Should United push for the signing they will face stern competition, with rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all keen and Bayern Munich and Barcelona known admirers as well.
Havertz wants to decide his future in the coming weeks and would prefer either of the last two, suggesting United will have to work hard to convince him to head to Old Trafford.
