Losing to CFR Cluj in the Champions League qualifiers, Celtic will now have to make do with a potential slot in the Europa League instead.
However, their loss might not have been in vain, as Romanian outlet GSP believe the Scottish Premiership champions are ‘on the verge’ of signing a player from the Transylvanian club.
That man is Billel Omrani, who scored two goals and picked up an assist in the 4-3 win over Neil Lennon’s men earlier this month.
It’s stated Celtic were ‘pleasantly impressed’ with the former France U19 international, and have put £3m on the table for his services.
In fact, GSP believe the deal could be done tomorrow, with the stage of negotiations believed to be ‘extremely advanced’.
With the transfer window closing for Celtic on September 2nd, they have around four days to get this over the line.
Omrani, who can play down the left or up front, has already scored eight goals and picked up three assists in 14 appearances this season in all competitions.
