As we gather all the reports about Everton’s chase for the Flamengo wonderkid Reinier, we better organise the news in a fitting timeline.

The interest had first been reported by Globo Esporte two weeks ago. It was claimed that Flamengo officials had been in England, and the Toffees ‘signalled’ they would soon bid for the 17-year-old.

Then on Tuesday night, Brazilian outlet Esporte Interativo reported Everton’s agreement to sign the teenager. It was said there’s a €40m deal for the player to move to England, although other clubs could still hijack it.

And now it’s UOL who comes up with their take on the situation, giving many more details on how the talks have been going.

UOL reports that Everton have opened talks both with Flamengo and with Reinier’s agents. It’s confirmed the ‘signalling’ was made in mid-July, and claimed the talks grew more intense in the past week, with no official offers being made so far.

Everton, Flamengo and Reinier are ‘aligning their interests’ and ‘should sit again by the start of August’.

UOL writes that the expectation is for the deal to be done for €35m. It’s also claimed that Reinier’s relatives have been telling to friends that a deal should be done soon, but didn’t reveal the name of the club.

Reinier only turns 18 in January, so he can’t move to England until then. For the Everton fans who want to watch a little of him, there’s a chance he could make his debut for Flamengo tonight.

Several club stars have been injured, and Reinier has been included in the squad to face Emelec for the Copa Libertadores round-of-16 at the Maracanã. Flamengo lost the first game 2-0, so that should be a great match to watch. Kick off is at 1:30AM BST.
