Manchester United’s efforts to sign Paul Dybala took another step after his agent arrived in England to hold talks with the Red Devils on Tuesday. As a part of the deal, Romelu Lukaku would join Juventus.

Apart from the Argentine, Harry Maguire of Leicester City and Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent days.

Tuttosport claim Ed Woodward doesn’t have an unlimited budget and sanctioning Paul Pogba’s sale for €160m could help him raise funds for other signings.

Therefore, Tuttosport say Woodward is working on a direct swap deal involving Lukaku and Dybala, while Pogba’s sale could help them bring in Maguire and Fernandes. The report states ‘all uncertainty begins and ends here’.

If United fail to sign Maguire and Fernandes (Tuttosport believe it’s because United will not have money from Pogba’s potential sale), then they will only be able to strengthen the midfield.

Tuttosport explains, for this reason, United are ‘interested’ in Blaise Matuidi and his signing would fit into their budget (which they put at net spend of €100m) for this summer.

Even if you believe Tuttosport’s report, there are a lot of ifs and buts before United would move to sign Blaise Matuidi.

This story feels very forced indeed.
