Brighton & Hove Albion are now reportedly one of the many clubs are interested in the America midfielder Mateus Uribe.

The Seagulls have been mentioned in a story from the Mexican ESPN Mexico which details the big race there is for the 28-year-old.

The report’s focus is mostly on Benfica, who are now set to battle their league rivals FC Porto in the chase for Uribe.

The Dragons’ attempt to sign him has been heavily covered by the Portuguese press lately, and despite the belief that an agreement is very close, this article comes to show a different version.

It’s claimed that Benfica, Sporting, Boca Juniors and Brighton are all interested in Uribe after watching him featuring for Colombia during the Copa America.

There are no big details about how much he would cost, or if there are talks with all these clubs. But these sides should be aware of how close Porto are to signing him, since the Portuguese media have been quite confident.

Southampton had also been linked to the player this summer, but it seems those rumours have disappeared.
