Bruno Fernandes travelled to Switzerland along with Sporting’s squad at the weekend, and his presence in the preseason preparations is enough for a lot of stories from the Portuguese press today.
Some newspapers are starting to believe that the midfielder is staying at the Lions, and about that matter, A Bola brings a story today.
They claim that in case Sporting don’t get an offer of €70m for Fernandes this summer, then they will be renewing his contract.
The intention is to make him the best paid player in the squad, and cancel that clause which says they must pay him €5m in case a bid of over €35m is rejected.
Meanwhile, newspaper Correio da Manhã brings a quite strange story about Manchester United’s chase for him.It’s claimed that on Saturday, Fernandes spoke to his agent Miguel Pinho, who’s been in England, to know how the negotiations with the Red Devils and Tottenham Hotspur have been going.
In Manchester United’s case, it’s claimed that they’re waiting for the sale of Paul Pogba and only then will they move for Fernandes. Plus the Old Trafford side are only expected to bid €55m, far from the €70m demanded by Sporting.
Still, it’s claimed that the club want to close the deal quickly, so they could use Fernandes during preseason.
This is an equation which doesn’t make much sense, but we’ll let you judge for yourselves here.
