Over the past month or so, there have been a few murmurs that Cenk Tosun could be on the move.
The Everton striker has never had the desired impact since his move from Besiktas back in January 2018, and nine goals in 43 appearances have not justified the original £20m expenditure.
The 28-year-old started just 11 games under Marco Silva last season, which hasn’t exactly helped his value on the transfer market for the Toffees, who will be expecting to make a loss.
On top of Galatasaray, who were reported to have made an offer in mid-June for the Turkey international, Lazio are also keeping an eye on his situation.
Tosun, according to Corriere dello Sport, is one of the names on director of football Igli Tare’s ‘casting list’ should Felipe Caicedo be sold in the coming months.
Allowing the Ecuadorian to find first-team football elsewhere would leave Ciro Immobile as the sole natural striker in the squad, which doesn’t help anyone.
Four names are mentioned by the Italian newspaper: SC Freiburg’s Luca Waldschmidt, SPAL’s Andrea Petagna, Gimanasia’s Jan Hurtado and Everton’s Cenk Tosun.
The Turkish forward is the most experienced profile on the list, and while a €20m valuation is mentioned, Corriere do state that figure is ‘destined to drop’.
There doesn’t appear to be much more to this right now, but we’ll keep an eye out on anything coming out of Italy in the next few days.
