The Portuguese media don’t need any encouragement to run Moussa Marega transfer stories, they’ve been linking him with a move to the Premier League for years.
That’s because the striker has a big desire to play in the top flight of English football and has come close to doing so on at least one occasion.
The English media pushed Wolves interest on Saturday, although this was initially reported in Portugal a few times. A Liga NOS player keen on a move to the PL? Well, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side must get a mention.
Record cover the Wolves interest on Sunday, and say West Ham tried to sign the player last summer, and it’s believed they’re still interested, with Aston Villa again getting a mention.
Marega has a €35m release clause, and the Portuguese newspaper believes that’s ‘perfectly in reach’ of the clubs mentioned.
Theoretically, €35m is easy for West Ham if they’re very keen, it would be harder for Wolves to justify as they’ve already got Raul Jimenez, and for Aston Villa it’d certainly be a stretch.
Marega, who is 28 years of age, scored 21 goals in 47 games last season, adding 11 assists in the process.
It’s worth pointing out that last year the striker said he’d have left Porto had Nuno stayed at the club.
