Having run down his contract at Brentford, Yoann Barbet is now free to sign with any club, and the 26-year-old isn’t expected to be going too far, according to reports in France.

According to Nando Chachalana, who is well respected in the Girondins de Bordeaux sphere, the centre-back is currently in London ahead of putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Queens Park Rangers.

Should everything go to plan with the medical, the 26-year-old will then continue his career in the Championship with QPR, who finished the 2018-19 campaign in 19th, eight places behind Brentford.

The player, who was a youth player at Bordeaux, signed for the Bees from Niort back in 2015, and made 118 appearances in four years, scoring seven goals and picking up four assists.

Barbet was very open about his decision to leave Brentford, telling football.london he was the one who turned down the chance of renewing his contract, ‘wanting to try something new’.

It appears it will be Queens Park Rangers and Mark Warburton who will reap the benefits next season.
