Four days ago, after claims in the English media of Crystal Palace and West Ham interest in Sandro Wagner, Bild talked the situation down.

The initial claims stated Wagner wanted out of Bayern Munich and could move to the Premier League in the January window.

Bild explained that whilst the 30 year old would fit in well with the English style of football, he may not be as keen as suggested.

They brought up quotes from earlier this month, when the player said: “I have signed my contract in full awareness here for two and a half years and I’m going to go through with that too! I’m a guy who gives gas (gives everything). Since the summer I give even more gas, because I just want to have the last years of my career again in full throttle. I feel good in Munich. Every time I come to Säbener Straße, I know what I’m doing for it for. This is my club, since childhood. That’s why I have no other thoughts.”

It was also explained that Wagner had wanted to return to Munich, his home town, for family reasons so a move would seem strange. They didn’t back up the interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Today Bild say their own information does back it up, and they’ve asked the player directly about it.

Wagner said: “I have a great relationship with Brazzo (Hasan Salihamidžić – Bayern sporting director), he knows how I see the situation. He is 100 percent behind me. Everything else does not matter right now.”
