Manchester United face Juventus in the Champions League group stage fixture at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Calciomercato.it claims the tie will provide an opportunity for the Red Devils and Manchester City, who it’s claimed are following Alex Sandro, to ‘carefully review’ him as he’s expected to start in the left-back position.
His contract runs down in 2020 and so far, the two parties yet to find an agreement over an extension and his employer do not consider his sale ‘impossible’ as long as there is a ‘fair offer’ on the table.
Benjamin Mendy is the first choice left-back at the Etihad and Le Parisien earlier reported that his attitude and lack of professionalism could cost him a place at the club, although that could be stretching things.
If the former Barcelona manager loses patience with his player, the Frenchman could be shown the exit door and it could provide an opportunity for them to make an approach for Sandro.
Meanwhile, the two Manchester outfits are not the only clubs interested in the player as the Italian website also mentions Paris Saint-Germain and other European sides are keeping tabs on the Juventus defender.
The Italian press having been claiming this for years and it’s felt for a long time that Juventus are almost inviting a good offer. But with Manchester City having Mendy, and United happy with Luke Shaw, it still feels unlikely.
