Four days ago, Goal.com’s Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee wrote that Pep Guardiola is losing patience with Benjamin Mendy and had banned the left-back from the senior team setup for a week.

The 24-year-old was a part of France’s World Cup winning squad and had played all his club’s matches before the last international break. He also came on as a substitute in Les Bleus’ 2-1 UEFA Nations League win over the Netherlands.

Since then he hasn’t featured for the Premier League winners as a foot injury has forced him to spend time on the sidelines, but his recent conduct and a few incidents has not gone down well at the Etihad or for his national team.

Le Parisien looks at the former AS Monaco man’s situation in today’s edition and the French newspaper talks about how his behaviour and attitude could cost him his future at the club.

Mendy’s driving license being suspended for speeding and being late by nearly three hours for a recovery session are cited as issues.

The latter happened because the defender was in London to watch a fight between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin and he posted pictures on social media platforms of him being at the event.

It’s claimed that travelling far and being out late at night has become a habit for Mendy and Le Parisien claims this clearly shows his lack of professionalism and it ‘annoys’ City and France.

The player’s lifestyle and lack of seriousness on focusing on his recovery from injury has made Manchester City consider parting ways with the fullback. Mendy still has time on his side to change things but if there is no improvement, there is likely to be one outcome and that will be his exit from the club.

In turn, the annoyance is hared by France and it puts doubts around his international future.
