Here’s a story Manchester City fans will be pleased to hear, and they may throw some scepticism aside to make believing it all the easier… it is Saturday after all.
After weeks of the Catalan media linking Barcelona with a move for Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong, and bringing Pep Guardiola’s club, along others, to the story in order to make things more exciting, TMW have decided it’s their go.
On Saturday morning the Italian website claims that Manchester City have initiated contact ‘in recent hours’ over potentially signing the 21 year old rising star.
TMW don’t make it clear whether that contact they say has been initiated is with Ajax or the player’s camp directly.
A potential transfer is described as a ‘work in progress’ and it’s explained Guardiola’s club will be competition for the manager’s former side Barcelona.
De Jong is going to be the subject of endless claims between now and the summer transfer window, and whilst interest from Manchester City wouldn’t appear to be odd, it’s probably best to wait for something more concrete before getting too excited.
