Jonny Castro has signed for Atletico Madrid and Wolves all in the space of one week.

Joining the Spanish capital on a permanent deal, the former Celta Vigo player was immediately sent to Wolves on a season long loan.

In fact, he was in Wolverhampton and had gone through his medical even before Atletico announced they’d completed the deal with Celta Vigo.

The 24 year old was shipped out by the rojiblancos because their spending this summer and last, and new contracts, means there’s no financial wriggle room to keep him around the place, someone else needs to pay his wages.

That’s Wolves, and the left back is pleased with the move. But, it seems there’s little chance of it becoming more than a one season thing, at least at this stage.

Jonny has signed a six season deal with Atletico, and Marca reports the player completely knows he’ll be back at Atletico next season, that’s why he’s so content with the situation.

Wanting to join Diego Simeone’s side over other options he had this summer, Jonny is already looking towards his future. That can be good for Wolves, because he’s not getting near Simeone’s team unless he shows quality and huge work rate for the Premier League club.
