Stefano Sturaro to Newcastle United now seems to be a real thing. That’s no guarantee the move will happen, but it appears this is more than simply transfer rumour guff.
Over the past few days there have been claims from Italy of Newcastle making an offer for the player.
Whereas once there were several Premier League clubs linked with the Juventus midfielder, nearly every report in the past 48 hours has focused on Rafael Benitez’s side.
Juventus want the sale to happen and there doesn’t seem to be a big gap between what Newcastle United are said to have offered and what the Turin club want.
Looking for €18-20m, Juve have reportedly been offered €14m plus bonuses by Newcastle.
TuttoJuve have taken the step of contacting Sturaro’s agent to ask him about the situation, and after confirming ‘requests’ from Spain and England, Carlo Volpi said: “Stefano has interest from Spain and England, I believe that today the Premier League is the number one championship in the world.”
That would be a strange thing for the agent to say if Sturaro was off to La Liga instead.
