According to TRT Spor and Sabah journalist Fatih Dogan, Fenerbahce officials are working hard to convince Arsenal forward Mesut Ozil over a move to Turkey.
Fenerbahce have been linked with a move for Ozil throughout this summer window, but Dogan now claims the Turkish giants are ‘serious’ about bringing the Arsenal man to Istanbul.
Dogan also added the financial part of the deal is making things difficult, but Fener are trying to find solutions to make this transfer happen.
He said to TRT Spor via Futbol Arena: “Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is working very hard to sign him. For his wages and loan fee, the club are trying to find the sponsors. They are working on it. I think it’s going very well. Right now, I can say the possibility is 50-51% positive.”
The German playmaker could leave Arsenal this summer following uncertainty over his future under Unai Emery. It’s well known that he is a childhood Fenerbahce fan and in previous windows he’s been linked with a move to the Super Lig side.
However, the Turkish club are going find it difficult to finance such a transfer, especially considering they are under investigation with UEFA for breaching FFP rules.
With the transfer fee Arsenal will be demanding and his wages it’s unlikely Ozil will finally move to Istanbul despite this optimism in the Turkish press.
