Argentine newspaper El Dia was the outlet with the best coverage of Juan Foyth’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in 2017. When others were insisting a PSG move was almost complete, El Dia repeatedly explained Foyth favoured Spurs and wanted to work with Mauricio Pochettino.
Now it’s time for them to follow his possible departure from the club.
Their update on the situation today says the player’s entourage has been analysing offers for him to move away from the North London side. They say his departure is ‘practically done’.
The outlet mentions that Barcelona, Leeds United and Serie A clubs have all been linked to the player, but they don’t seem to have their own information on which club is currently closest.
What they say is there’s a big expectation at Estudiantes for Foyth’s move. That’s because they can get a percentage of the fee, both because of their agreement with Tottenham, and due to the solidarity mechanism.
The Argentine side are said to be ‘doing the maths’ to know how much they can get. It’s said that in case Foyth leaves for over €20m, then the La Plata club would get €1m, which to them is significant.
