21-year-old Czech right-back Aleš Matějů of Viktoria Plzen is close to transferring to Brighton & Hove Albion, according to isport.cz.
TheCzech daily sports newspaper say young defender has flown to England on Friday. After undergoing a medical in Brighton, the deal will be officially confirmed. Including all bonuses, Viktoria Plzen should be paid more than€2.5m by Brighton.
Matějů doesn’t have a lot of experience, he arrived at his current club only two years ago as a talented defender from Příbram. In his youth, he played in PSV Eindhoven’s academy. Despite his age, he’s already broken into Viktoria Plzen’s starting line-up and has given reliable performances.
Matějů is considered to be one of the best young players in Czech Republic and has played regularly for their U21 national team. However, he couldn’t participate at the Euro U21 finals tournament in Poland due to a muscle injury, which Broghton will hope he’s fully overcome.
Chris Hughton and Brighton need to recruit well this summer ahead of their big Premier League test.
