The lower divisions of Italian football have seen multiple players rise through to the top of the Italian football pyramid.

Many of them have gone on to play for Italy and achieved bigger things in their careers and that will give a lot of encouragement to Giulio Marroni, who is now leaving Crystal Palace to head to the lower divisions of Italian football.

Serie D side Olbia have signed the teenager, with the news also being confirmed by outlet Centrotrentuno, who state that the ex-Crystal Palace midfielder is capable of combining ‘quality’ and ‘dynamism’ while playing in the defensive midfield area and operating in front of the defence.

The 18-year-old had been around the Palace Under-21s side and the Under-18s side, having spent a stint at Exeter City last season.

He featured for Exeter’s Under-18s side too, previously having been part of the Derby County youth system.

It will be Marroni’s first experience in Italy, but he has Italian roots and that will surely be of help.
