Keinan Davis’ time at Aston Villa showed repeated glimpses of talent, but not consistently enough to secure a career there.
He came through the club’s academy and played over 80 times for Villa, before being sent on loans to Nottingham Forest and Watford.
His sale to Udinese took place in the summer of 2023 and it is only this season that the Englishman is starting to make an impact at the Serie A club, who are currently top of the table.
Gazzetta dello Sport have looked back on the striker’s journey to Udine, and the difficulties he’s faced.
They refer to the 26-year-old as the ‘salvation man’, hailing him for his return to prominence and the assist against Parma that helped Udinese chart a sensational comeback from being 2-0 down.
Fitness worries held Davis back last season and at Watford, there were also issues around his stamina. It’s stated some at Udinese didn’t think the player could put in more than 20 minutes without getting tired.
Things improved over the summer for the signing from Aston Villa. He’s had a better preseason, appears fitter and the difficulties of last season are slipping away.
