Friday saw several reports push Sevilla star Jules Koundé closer towards Chelsea as it was explained the two clubs have reached an agreement for the defender’s transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Earlier today, we covered claims made by COPE and Cadena Ser that Barcelona have not given up yet to sign the 23-year-old and could send a formal offer soon to their La Liga counterpart.

It was also stated the France international’s case is ‘still open’ with both Chelsea and the Catalan club.

The centre-back is with Sevilla in Portugal. Julen Lopetegui’s side, for their part, are waiting for the Blues to send them all the documentation related to the deal or Barca to position themselves once and for all.

That’s what Mundo Deportivo are reporting and they state sources from the Andalusian club have informed them there has been ‘zero contact’ from Barca. Sevilla insist nothing has changed since the west London club ‘negotiated’ for the ex-Bordeaux man.

Chelsea, who have an agreement in place with Sevilla, ‘must send all the documentation’ to complete the player’s transfer. Meanwhile, Koundé still hopes to join Barcelona and that is why the ‘operation is delayed’.

El Chiringuito’s Cristóbal Soria states that reports of Barca being about to sign the Frenchman are ‘totally false’.

Soria further explains Sevilla have labelled these claims ‘lies’. This should give hope to Chelsea about securing Koundé’s services.
