The curious case of Dan-Axel Zagadou and Manchester City appears to be coming to an end if Wednesday’s edition of L’Equipe is to be believed.
The Paris Saint-Germain youngster, whose contract runs out in the summer, has, since the beginning of 2017, been one of Pep Guardiola’s targets to bolster his defence long-term, with various reports of meetings and negotiations between the Premier League club and the centre-back.
Now L’Equipe join the party, and explain the young defender has indeed held talks with the Citizens, which Paris Saint-Germain weren’t too happy about, forcing them to stop him from playing with the club’s reserves in CFA as punishment.
Having offered him a five-year contract with promises of integrating the first-team squad immediately, the Ligue 1 champions believe they have done all they can in their power to convince him, but it doesn’t appear to be enough.
L’Equipe explain the player’s entourage have been in touch with a few agents to try and find him a move abroad, and Paris Saint-Germain are rather pessimistic about their chances of keeping their starlet.
Believed to have more potential than Nice’s Malang Sarr, were Manchester City to tie up Zagadou’s signing, they would have one of France’s best up and coming centre-backs, one who could easily end up close to their first-team sooner rather than later.
