Liverpool have managed to offload Christian Benteke to Crystal Palace, but they’re also desperate to ship out Mario Balotelli in the last few days of the transfer window.
The controversial striker has been linked with a move to Serie A club Bologna, who had reportedly already contacted Balotelli over the phone to know his wish.
According to Corriere di Bologna on Tuesday, Bologna’s chairman, Joey Saputo, and Roberto Donadoni, the Serie A club’s manager, had a meeting yesterday morning regarding the possibility of signing Balotelli.
It is reported the duo are very keen on bringing Balotelli to the Serie A club. In fact, Saputo has even asked Donadoni if he’d be able to handle Balotelli, and the manager is quite optimistic about it.
Corriere di Bologna say the operation to sign Balotelli has started, and Bologna’s sporting director Riccardo Bigon has even met Mino Raiola to explore the possibility of signing the Liverpool striker.
Bigon has made it clear that they want to sign Balotelli, but strictly on their terms. The Serie A club won’t be paying any loan fee, and would want Liverpool to pay 70% of his wages.
The Serie A club don’t want to invest more than €1.5m on Balotelli, and that could be an issue. It is also reported Donadoni would want to meet Balotelli before making a final decision on the transfer.
