Manchester United are following Djurgårdens IF’s Lucas Bergvall, according to multiple reports coming out of Sweden.
The 17-year-old completed a move to the Swedish club from IF Brommapojkarna earlier this year. He’s made nine appearances for Djurgårdens.
His performances have caught the attention of Manchester United, according to Fotbolldirekt.se, relayed by Fotbolltransfers. It’s claimed The Red Devils and Feyenoord ‘show interest’ in signing the midfielder.
Apart from these two clubs, scouts from PSV Eindhoven, AZ Alkmaar, AS Monaco, Marseille, FC Midtjylland and an unnamed Premier League side are keeping tabs on him.
Bergvall has a deal until 2025 and Djurgårdens sporting director Bosse Andersson wants at least SEK 80m [€7m] to part ways with the youngster in the summer.
This claim surfaced days after Fotboll Sthlm reported about Manchester United monitoring the teenager.
The English club’s Nordic scout, Tommy Möller Nielsen, ‘paid a visit’ for Djurgårdens’ clash against IFK Göteborg last weekend. This was revealed by the Swedish club’s press officer, Olle Arnell.
“Yes, it’s him [Tommy Möller Nielsen]. Don’t know, they rarely state that [who they are scouting],” Arnell told Fotboll Sthlm.
They were also able to have a chat with the Manchester United official about his recent scouting mission.
“I saw Hammarby yesterday, Djurgården today and will check BP tomorrow. It’s just general scouting,” Tommy Möller Nielsen said.
Bergvall has already been to Manchester United for a trial, back in 2021. When directly asked if they are still interested in the player, the Red Devils scout explained: “I can’t say that.”
If Manchester United agree a deal for Bergvall, he won’t be able to arrive in England until he turns 18-years-of-age next February.
