Gonzalo Montiel’s playing time at Nottingham Forest has been limited this season. He’s made 15 appearances, out of which nine were under Nuno Espírito Santo, who replaced Steve Cooper in December.
The Premier League side signed the right-back from Sevilla on loan with an option to buy reportedly set at €11m.
The Argentina international’s future could be away from Nottingham Forest, according to D Sports.
It’s pointed out the former River Plate man was linked with a move back to his country in the winter market but that didn’t happen. In the summer, he could make a move to South America, and more specifically to Brazil, where Flamengo have emerged as a contender.
It’s said the World Cup winner’s name is being passed around in the corridors at Flamengo, and they would be ‘willing to pay’ $9m [€8.3m] to secure his services. The report further adds the Nottingham Forest man ‘wouldn’t mind’ changing clubs in the next window.
Earlier this month, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side were docked four points and are now in the danger zone.
Nottingham Forest face risk of relegation and if this were to happen, Montiel would have to return to the La Liga side, who then have to make a decision on his future.
