Defender Yerry Mina has been ‘left in oblivion’ at Everton this season, with his latest injury leaving him out of the picture and fighting to be relevant.
That’s according to Marca’s Colombian edition, who cover the defender’s situation today and how it’s looking grim for him.
They explain that Mina had a ‘bad start’ to the season, picking up a serious ankle injury in the defeat to Chelsea that ruled him out for two months.
He’s expected back in the next ten days but after that his future remains uncertain as it’s unclear how he ‘readapts’ to the competition and whether he can find a place in Frank Lampard’s side.
Furthermore, there’s the situation around Mina’s contract, which is set to expire next summer and looks unlikely to be renewed.
Reports throughout the summer claimed that Everton would be happy to sell him on the cheap, which ultimately didn’t happen as his injury played a part.
He’s free to negotiate with clubs from January but that injury has ‘left him forgotten’ and everything seems to indicate he is ‘doomed’ at Everton.
In other words, clubs will have forgotten him and he’s unlikely to play to showcase himself to suitors.
That’s led to a feeling he has ‘fallen into oblivion’ at Goodison Park, with this season a write off unless there is a major change in the coming months.
