On Saturday, Kicker stated Saša Kalajdžić is getting closer to Wolverhampton Wanderers and signs are pointing towards an exit from VfB Stuttgart.
This report came after the Bundesliga side confirmed the 25-year-old has requested not to train with the team and won’t be part of the squad to face FC Köln later today.
According to Sky Deutschland, Wolves knew about the striker’s request and his decision is closely linked to his desire to change clubs before the window closes.
The Premier League side have taken steps to try to secure his services as their ‘first written offer’ was received by Stuttgart on Saturday evening. They have proposed €15m plus bonuses, which are difficult to achieve.
Wolves view their bid to be in line with Kalajdžić’s market value. Unfortunately for them, the German club feel otherwise and have rejected the offer made by Bruno Lage’s side. VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat remains firm and wants a total package of €25m.
The English side have had a deal agreed with the player for days and ‘want to improve’ their proposal to Stuttgart.
If Wolves fail to find an agreement with Stuttgart and no other club come forward to sign Kalajdžić, then Sky state he will continue with his current employer.
