Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to sign Stade de Reims’ Emmanuel Agbadou in the winter market.

That’s according to L’Equipe, and they cover the Premier League side’s interest and their plans to bring the defender to Molineux.

Wolves conceded 42 goals from 19 league games and currently have the worst defensive record in the Premier League, along with Leicester City.

The report states Vítor Pereira’s side are looking to improve their defence in January and are focusing on the 27-year-old.

Wolves are ready to offer a ‘significant amount’ to sign the Ivory Coast international, who has been a regular and captained the Ligue 1 side this season, making 15 appearances so far.

VfL Wolfsburg are also in the mix to sign Agbadou, but Stade de Reims have no plans to let him leave. His deal lasts until 2028 and L’Equipe ask if a €20m bid from Wolves could see the French club consider selling the centre-back.

This indicates the English club would have to convince Stade de Reims to stand a chance to sign the Ivorian in January.

As well as Agbadou, Wolves have RC Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov on their transfer agenda to improve their defence. It’s claimed Pereira’s side recently made contacts to find out the possibility of securing the 20-year-old Uzbek’s services.
