Algeria are sweating over Wolverhampton Wanderers star Rayan Aït-Nouri’s fitness, according to DZ Foot.
Algeria manager Vladimir Petković included the left-back in his squad to face Botswana and Mozambique later this month.
At the weekend, the 23-year-old was forced off the pitch in the 80th minute in Wolves’ 2-1 win over Southampton.
DZ Foot state ‘muscle pain’ was the reason for his substitution and he doesn’t seem to have suffered a serious injury. Despite this, Aït-Nouri’s physical condition raises doubts over his availability for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The national team’s coaching staff will keep a close eye on his physical condition, but for now, there’s no reason for the alarm bells to go off. The report adds the ‘next few hours will be decisive’ to determine the fullback’s fitness.
According to the outlet, Petković is already dealing with multiple injuries and the Wolves player’s setback would be a blow for Algeria.
If Aït-Nouri is forced to miss this international break, Young Boys’ Jaouen Hadjam could take his place in Algeria’s starting lineup.
Aït-Nouri has made 32 appearances for Wolves this season.
