Jorge Mendes has been accused of having a ‘fixation’ over getting Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Ruben Neves to Barcelona this summer.
That’s what Mundo Deportivo report today, explaining that the agent is pushing for the midfielder to move to the Camp Nou, but he is not ‘convincing the staff’.
Never has again been linked with a move to Barcelona this week, with reports indicating that Wolves have offered him as part of a deal to try and sign Ansu Fati.
These rumours, which came through various mediums in Spain, were all made despite the fact that Barcelona’s coaches are ‘against the arrival of the Portuguese midfielder’.
Mundo explain that they have nothing against him, but they do not consider him the necessary profile that the squad needs.
In that sense Xavi wants Sergio Busquets to continue at the club and, in search of an alternative, he would prefer Sofyan Amrabat or Martin Zubimendi. The latter is the one he likes the most.
Neves ‘does not attract’ them and instead the rumour is a result of a ‘fixation’ from his agent, Jorge Mendes, who is ‘shoehorning’ the player into the Camp Nou.
He’s pressing those in charge of Barcelona to sign the Wolves man, which could lead to a conflict with Xavi, who has made it clear he doesn’t want him.
