Gonçalo Guedes’ latest transfer saga now seems to be over, because, as reported by À Punt Esports, the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee is set to complete his switch from Benfica to Villarreal.
The outlet writes that Guedes has ‘passed the medical’ ahead of the move to the La Liga side, and the transfer will be made official in the ‘next few hours’.
The Wolves loanee was filmed arriving for the medical earlier today and ignored the journalists who asked him about the move.
Guedes had a couple of very disappointing loan spells at Benfica. He first arrived in January, and due to injuries, he couldn’t have a good run of games at the club.
Then the deal got renewed and was supposed to last until the end of the season, but he struggled to convince manager Roger Schmidt he deserved a place in the starting team.
The striker reportedly asked to switch clubs and Villarreal now showed up as a solution. Wolves will certainly hope he does well there and potentially gets bought, otherwise he has a contract with the Molineux side running until 2027.
