Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee Gonçalo Guedes is about to leave Benfica again, following another disappointing spell, and the Portuguese media actually seems to feel sorry for him.
As newspaper Record today feature a story on the situation, they explain how injuries have been ‘jeopardising’ the player’s career.
Guedes had already been loaned by Wolves to Benfica in January and couldn’t play much. The deal was renewed, and the situation is repeating itself, with the clubs deciding to cut the loan short.
As reported this week, Record confirms that the striker’s new move to Villarreal is ‘practically’ confirmed, as the Eagles are now tired of having him in the squad and not using him because of his poor physical condition.
Benfica still show some appreciation towards the player, though, and even though they know he’s leaving, they’re taking him to the bench for the match against Braga tonight.
Wolves are set to loan Guedes to Villarreal until the end of the season, certainly hoping he can recover his form at the Spanish club.
