Wolverhampton Wanderers are willing to discuss a deal for Mario Lemina this month after Al Shabab opened talks to sign him.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say Wolves are more than open to selling the midfielder for the right price.
The newspaper reports that while the Saudi Arabian market is unlikely to be a particularly busy one this month, Al Shabab are one of the sides looking to do business.
They want to strengthen themselves in midfielder and have already pursued several in Europe, including Roma’s Leandro Paredes.
After opening that trail, they also turned their attention to Lemina at Wolves. In response, the Premier League side made it clear that they are ‘not closed to a sale’ of the 31-year-old.
His current contract only runs until the summer, although Wolves have the option to extend by a year. Tension has been growing between him and the club for a while, though, particularly after he was stripped of the captain’s armband last month.
That came after Lemina clashed with opposition players, teammates and his own coaching staff following a defeat to West Ham in December. Al Shabab could offer him and Wolves a way out and talks are underway already regarding a transfer this month.
