Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Yerson Mosquera remains the ‘great desire’ for Villarreal, but Wolves have ‘serious difficulties’ letting him go.

That’s according to Cadena SER, who report the Spanish side are looking at alternatives to the defender as they believe a deal may be too difficult to get done.

Mosquera spent the second half of last season on loan with Villarreal and proved to be a major hit at the club, establishing himself in their defence and earning rave reviews.

The Spanish side have made it clear they’d like him back and he’s openly said as much as well but Wolves are yet to sanction a permanent departure.

They have four central defenders in their squad at this moment in time but have sold Max Kilman to West Ham, meaning they’ve shown a desire to look at Mosquera in pre-season this year.

That’s been reflected in their talks with Villarreal, who have now been given the idea that Wolves face ‘serious difficulties’ in letting Mosquera go.

He remains the ‘great desire’ for the Spanish side, but it seems they’re being given the impression Wolves won’t sell and so have now began to scan the market for alternatives.

Perhaps that stance would change if Wolves were to sign another centre-back but recent reports have indicated that they would like to give Mosquera a new deal, further strengthening the idea that he’s staying.
