Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hee-chan Hwang is a potential target for Borussia Monchengladbach should Marcus Thuram leave as expected.
That’s according to BILD, who cover the planning at the German club today with Thuram very much on the exit ramp.
He is out of contract in the summer and won’t be signing a new deal, so Gladbach have reluctantly accepted they need to arrange a sale in January to avoid losing him on a free.
They’ve set a €10m asking price on the Frenchman, a figure that a whole host of clubs in Europe are willing to pay.
Losing the player will leave a huge hole in Gladbach’s forward line and they will need to source a replacement should he depart as expected.
The club are already drawing up a list of options and Wolves forward Hwang is ‘on the list’ of players being looked at.
At the moment he is the secondary option behind Dion Drena Beljo but the South Korean is considered a profile that ‘would fit’ what Gladbach need.
He has a contract at Molineux until 2026 and is valued at around €12m, a figure the Bundesliga side would only be able to pay if Thuram were to depart.
Whether Wolves would sanction a deal isn’t mentioned but the 26-year-old has only managed one goal in 11 Premier League games this season and struggled last season as well, so perhaps that could sway their thinking.
At the moment Hwang is only an option being looked at anyway, with any move dependent on Thuram’s likely departure in January.
