Following initial reports from France claiming Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint Germain, it seems the Premier League side have indeed started to make their moves to get the transfer done.
It’s L’Equipe who today features a story on the situation, claiming Wolves have ‘officially entered the race’ to get the 21-year-old signed in January.
According to their sources, the Molineux side made an approach to PSG to talk about a loan with an option to buy. The story doesn’t say how much they’d need to spend in case of triggering the clause.
Wolves are not alone in the race, though, as Wolfsburg had already ‘positioned themselves’ for a loan deal, and those are claimed to be the ‘most urgent’ clubs to get Ekitike signed in January.
The forward’s departure from PSG in the middle of the season sounds pretty much concrete, with L’Equipe claiming he’s ‘slowly getting closer’ to a departure.
Transfermarkt currently values the player at €15m, and perhaps the amount for the buying option will be crucial to decide who will win the race for the transfer.
