Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Hayao Kawabe is on the verge of completing his move away from the club to join Standard Liege.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the player was at the Belgian club today to complete a medical and meet his new teammates.
The journalist reports that Kawabe ‘was indeed’ at the Standard Liege academy today as he met and exchanged pleasantries with his future teammates.
That took place before he took part in the usual medical examinations required ahead of completing his move from Wolves.
He joined Julen Lopetegui’s side in a €600,000 deal from Grasshoppers on January 5th last year but returned to the Swiss club on loan 15 days later and stayed there until this summer.
He’s now returned to Wolves but does not appear to be a part of their plans and has been linked with a move to Liege, with a recent report stating that everyone was confident that it would go through.
He’s now completed his medical and been pictured at the Belgian club, suggesting that the process is going smoothly, and he will soon be joining the list of players departing Wolves this summer.
