Despite interest from Lyon in West Ham United’s Saïd Benrahma, it’s another French club who have made the first move for the Algeria international: Marseille.

That’s according to Foot Mercato in France, who explain the Ligue 1 side have made a ‘first offer’ for the forward, who hasn’t been able to get as much game time under David Moyes this season.

This has attracted interest from teams abroad, but also in the Premier League, where Wolves, Brentford and even Fulham have been keen on the player.

While the interest from the Molineux side isn’t explicitly mentioned in the article, it is by their journalist Santi Aouna on X.

Brentford, who know the player very well from his time with the Bees before his move to West Ham, are also ‘ready to welcome him’ in January.

It’s Marseille, however, who appear to be the more insistent of the bench, but their offer of a loan with an option to buy didn’t tickle the fancy of the Hammers just yet.

West Ham refused this, clearly waiting to see what the Premier League interest brings, likely knowing Brentford and Wolves can make better offers than the French one.

Marseille haven’t given up, though, and are expected to come back, knowing that the London side, want ‘around €23m’ for their winger.

The ball is now in the court of the likes of Wolves and Brentford, who will have to open their wallets if they want to bring the Algeria international to their clubs this winter.
