Barcelona and Ilaix Moriba are getting fed up with each other.
Moriba is an 18-year-old midfielder and now has less than a year left on his current contract. According to multiple reports from the Catalan media, Barcelona are growing frustrated in renewal talks and are set to hand the youngster an ultimatum.
From the player’s perspective, there’s thought to be annoyance with how Moriba has been ostracised from the first team squad until he agrees to a new contract.
This is where Chelsea come in, with Sport reporting Barcelona ‘fear’ Thomas Tuchel’s side are trying to secure the player’s future.
Sport say the main issue relating to the renewal is economic, and there’s worry Chelsea have already proposed something to the player and that’s why there’s no agreement reached.
According to the report, the Blues could double or triple the salary Barcelona will offer, depending on whether he moves this summer or waits until he’s a a free agent.
Mundo Deportivo, another Catalan newspaper, say ‘patience has run out’ at Barcelona and Moriba has been given until Sunday to agree a renewal.
Should he not, then it’s stated he’ll be excluded from the club’s first team squad, and if he signs up then he’ll be integrated into Ronald Koeman’s thinking.
