The Argentine media continues to be full of stories about the future of River Plate fullback Gonzalo Montiel.
It’s interesting how most of these reports keep naming West Ham United as the main contenders for his signing, regardless of what the updates are.
Montiel’s agent Marcelo Carracedo spoke to La Oral Desportiva this week, and made it pretty clear that the player is ready to move to Europe this summer.
“Gonzalo thinks that for his age, it’s time to make the jump to Europe”, said Carracedo. “Some offer is going to come, you have to be patient”.
It’s Olé who brings the quotes, and both their website and their newspaper names the Hammers as a possible destination.
On their website, they say West Ham or Schalke 04 could sign the player, although the likes of Roma, Torino, Valencia and Bétis are all interested in his transfer as well.
They’re a bit more radical on the newspaper, as just below the player’s picture, they write ‘will it be West Ham or Schalke?’.
Meanwhile, Carracedo has confirmed that in case West Ham go for the player, they’d have to spend over £10m to guarantee that he’d get a work permit from the FA.
