On Monday, Het Nieuwsblad stated set-pieces could be an extra weapon for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise when they face Liverpool in the Europa League on Thursday.

The clash will see Liverpool summer signing Alexis Mac Allister come up against his brother, Kevin, for the first time in an official fixture. The latter joined the Belgian side from Argentinos Juniors in the last window.

Het Nieuwsblad had a chat with their father, Carlos, to preview the clash between Liverpool and Union Saint-Gilloise.

Mac Allister Sr has admitted the family WhatsApp group “exploded” after the group stage draw confirmed the brothers will have an opportunity to face each other. Carlos has also insisted that he will not give any advice to his sons for the European fixture.

“We are all very happy that we can see Kevin and Alexis together on the field again, even if it is now as rivals,” he said.

“And I will also be there in Liverpool on Thursday, together with my current partner. I am looking forward to it, because I know Anfield, I have already been there. Will I advise my sons? No, that is the job of their trainers. I don’t want to interfere too much. I especially hope that they enjoy playing against each other.”

Union Saint-Gilloise manager Alexander Blessin had insisted that his side have a chance to beat the Reds and this is now echoed by the World Cup winner’s father.

“Will I shed a tear when they walk onto the field together? I hope not, but that is quite possible,” Carlos explained.

“What I expect? Liverpool have many world stars, but Union play very good football. Nothing is impossible.”

Following their defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, Jürgen Klopp and his side will be looking to bounce back when they face the Belgian club at Anfield.
