Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite has been on loan at PSV Eindhoven since last summer, and has been a regular for them this season.

Operating mainly as a centre-back, he’s made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch club, scoring three goals in the process.

The Eredivisie side are impressed with the Everton man’s displays and have plans to retain him beyond this season. They don’t have an option to buy him and will have to negotiate with the Toffees.

Towards the end of January, PSV negotiated with the Merseyside club over a deal for the 20-year-old.

Algemeen Dagblad claim PSV have been ‘eager to get Branthwaite under contract for some time now’ as they view him as a player for the future. It wasn’t possible for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side to buy him in January since they didn’t receive a response from the English club.

AD add the player’s situation will be discussed again with Everton in the coming weeks, after which there will be clarity on whether PSV can keep him beyond the loan deal. The player, for his part, has already indicated he wants to continue in Eindhoven.

Branthwaite scored a brace in PSV’s 3-1 KNVB Cup win over FC Emmem on Wednesday and after the tie, he spoke to ESPN about his future.

“Now I’m mainly concerned with playing my games here until the end of the season. I like it here. I will definitely consider staying here,” he said, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

Branthwaite has a contract at Everton until 2025 and Sean Dyche’s side want €7-10m to sell him.
