Nottingham Forest defender Serge Aurier has been convinced into a move to Galatasaray by Ivory Coast teammate Wilfried Zaha.

That’s according to journalist Ali Naci Küçük, who reports that there is every chance the fullback will make the move to Turkey before the end of their transfer window.

Galatasaray are on the hunt for a new right-back after seeing Sacha Boey depart for Bayern Munich, a move which has left a hole in Galatasaray’s defence that will need to be filled.

They’ve been looking at various options since Boey departed and Nottingham Forest defender Aurier is one of those on the table.

A report on the 30th indicated that Galatasaray have come forward and proposed a deal to Nottingham Forest, with it explained that their vice-president had met with Aurier and asked him the conditions required to get him out of Nottingham Forest.

There has been no update since that point but Küçük covers the situation today, explaining that Galatasaray have been working through various options and Aurier was originally the third choice.

However, their other targets have proven either difficult or available on deals that weren’t favourable and so they’ve now turned to Aurier, who has been talked into the move by an international teammate.

“When the first offer was made the player was not keen on coming to Turkey,” he said.

“But that has changed and there is most likely no problem with the positive outcome of this transfer. It seems that Galatasaray will be the new club for Serge Aurier.

“Wilfried Zaha played a very important and key role in this transfer. It’s a six-month deal. If Galatasaray gets what they want, they will extend the contract. If they don’t, they will send him back.

“He is a player who has made very high-level transfers. As long as he doesn’t have an Ndombele incident (he should be okay), but it’s too early to say if it’s a good move or a wrong move.”
