Following their relegation back down to the Championship, Sheffield United have done well to keep most of their squad together.

Both Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka left the club and are without a club, while John Lundstram and Simon Moore were transferred on frees to Rangers and Coventry respectively.

Other than that, Slavisa Jokanović has most of the players that were in the Premier League at his disposal, and is trying to bring in some of his own touch by signing Ronaldo Vieira from Sampdoria.

The former Leeds United man has been targeted to bolster the midfield, and reports of talks between the two sides taking place were rife on Monday and Tuesday.

Gazzetta dello Sport bring an update on Wednesday, claiming Vieira is ‘close to saying goodbye to the Sampdoria shirt’, and ‘already has his bags ready’.

Sheffield United are ‘ready to bring him to the Championship’, and the ‘white smoke is at the door’, meaning it’s very close.

Good news for the Blades, then, who could still end up losing Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge in the coming month.
