West Ham United are yet to make an offer worth more than €15m for Terem Moffi as they battle Southampton for his signature.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the Hammers first offer for the in-form striker was soundly rejected by Lorient.
They explain that Moffi would prefer to stay in France for the time being and continue his development there but feels his future is ‘being played out behind the scenes’.
The striker is attracting interest thanks to his 11 goals in Ligue 1 so far and the Premier League have made him a potential target.
West Ham, alongside Southampton, have ‘already made offers’ that would not have exceeded €15m in total. They have both been rejected by those in charge at Lorient.
Nice have also joined the race for his signature as they look for a replacement for Andy Delort, who is on his way out of the club.
They have also made an offer worth €15m, which was rejected before they sent a second one worth €18m excluding bonuses.
That is unlikely to be accepted by Lorient, whose president Loïc Fery has put a €30m price tag on his player. Nice are unwilling to go beyond €20m for him at this point.
Whether that is the case for West Ham or Southampton isn’t mentioned, although the Saints have shown a willingness to spend this month in an attempt to get themselves out of trouble.
West Ham are in a similar position and struggling for goals but already spent big in the summer on Gianluca Scamacca and whether they are willing to go to €30m for Moffi remains to be seen.
