Earlier today, we covered the reports from the Brazilian media claiming Nottingham Forest are about to sign Carlos Miguel from Corinthians.
It was claimed that the Reds are triggering the goalkeeper’s €4m release clause, and he already has his ‘bags packed’ to move to City Ground.
However, according to UOL, West Ham United are now trying to hijack Nottingham Forest’s deal for Carlos Miguel.
It’s said that the Hammers, just like the Reds, communicated they’re ready to trigger the goalkeeper’s release clause.
Although Nottingham Forest still lead the race, as they made the first move and have a verbal agreement with the player, West Ham believe they can succeed.
UOL claims the Hammers may have arrived a little later, but they’re offering a bigger salary and better conditions for Carlos Miguel in England.
There’s also an Italian club in the race, besides Corinthians trying to keep him. However, the player is keen on moving to the Premier League, and hasn’t been eager to renew his contract.
It now remains to be seen if West Ham’s offer will be strong enough to beat Nottingham Forest.
