Earlier today, we covered how West Ham were still very much in the race to sign Elye Wahi despite Eintracht Frankfurt making their first bid for the young forward.
Well, Foot Mercato follow that up with another article on the Hammers, where they look at how the London side are accelerating on all fronts this transfer window.
They give an update on the Lucas Paqueta deal, where Manchester City had offered €101m, but West Ham wanted €110m, and everything is now ‘stopped’.
The reason for that isn’t money, but regardless of what the issue is, intermediaries are ‘trying to unstick the affair’.
Meanwhile, West Ham have targeted a few players to bolster their attack, and that’s where Elye Wahi comes in, after they promised to bid more than the competition for him.
However, he’s not the only player they are going after, having made a ‘verbal offer’ for Jérémy Doku, seen as a ‘priority’ in the wing position.
The problem there is that he’s already agreed a five-year contract with Manchester City.
West Ham, then, on top of Wahi, want ‘another forward’, and the profile being looked at is a striker capable of helping other play around him, like a deep lying forward, and they want him to be young and ‘on loan’.
After that, they also would like a centre-back, with the next arrival in that position being a loan with an option to buy.
Then there’s a left-back needed, which is to be added on top of Mohammed Kudus; a player ‘very appreciated’ to bolster the attack, but for whom no offer has been made as of yet.
