West Ham United ‘love’ Genk defender Mark McKenzie, with a growing belief he’s in the final months of his time with the Belgian side.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri who says West Ham are very much in the picture as he enters the final year of his contract.
He explains that clubs from Italy, Germany and England are already believed to have enquired about the centre-back’s conditions and that initial interest has not cooled.
In fact, West Ham ‘love’ everything they’ve seen from the 25-year-old so far and are already in discussions with his entourage about a transfer.
They’re yet to translate those talks and interest into a formal bid or anything of note with Genk, although the Belgian side are open to sale if an ‘interesting offer’ were to be made.
What they would consider as interesting isn’t made clear but it’s safe to assume they’d want a healthy profit on the €5.45m they paid in January 2021, even if the player is set to be in the final year of his deal.
For now, it seems discussions are simply taking place between West Ham and the player’s entourage, but the Hammers are keen nonetheless and he’s a name to keep an eye on moving forwards.
